It's been almost three months since my last post, and I'm not going to waste time with excuses. I was busy enjoying my summer. I read three mediocre books between July and August; they were fluffy, light fare that embody the spirit of Summer Reading. I wanted mindless, and that's what they gave me.

Our trip to Folly Beach, South Carolina, was perfect. Although I did not read a book while on the beach (all adult eyes had to be on the children while they challenged the rough waves), I think the theme of the summer was reading ABOUT the beach since I could not read while actually ON it. Nonetheless, these books served their purpose and gave me the mind candy I was craving.

Even though I did not make a dent in my Summer Reading List nor did I blog much over my time off from school, I still consider it a successful, wonderful summer.

I've struggled to write over the past few weeks, which is hard for a word person. Full Disclosure: my journal is filled with questions and curse words and a lot of "BREATHE & BE" in various versions of handwriting; I can't untangle the uncertainty no matter how hard I try. The Sisterhood of the Coaches' Wives

We blinked, and it's August. It's time for the excitement and anxiety to start creeping in. It's time to kiss our husbands goodbye and say, " See you in December!" It's time to become a pseudo-single mom. It's football season in Texas. As coaches' wives, we know the truth: football season never really ends. Never Say Never

I know that I'm not the tattoo type of girl. In fact, I started taking pleasure in the "WHAT??!!!" of my friends when I casually mentioned that I was thinking of getting one. Nothing like causing a little shock and awe. But instead of deterring me, their reactions made me want one even more. The major lesson I've learned in my 30s: Be the true person that I am rather than the one people expect me to be. And people don't expect me, the sweet little librarian, to get tatted up. I totally get that. And the funny thing is that I never expected it either. My deep disdain for tattoos started with my clean-cut-baseball-player-of-a-high-school boyfriend. For the sake of anonymity, I will call him Bif-with-one-f. (Those who know my history will understand the significance of this name and will probably chuckle.)
